Knotwood

The warmth of timber. None of the upkeep.

Knotwood is aluminum with a real wood-grain finish, in oak, cedar, walnut and ash tones. A pergola that looks like wood and never needs staining, in a climate that punishes wood.

Wood grain in the coating, not on it.

Knotwood's finish is sublimated into the powder coat, so the grain has depth and texture rather than sitting on the surface as a print. From a few feet away it reads as timber; up close it still does.

The profiles are aluminum, so a Knotwood pergola does not split, twist or attract termites, and the finish is warrantied by the manufacturer against fading. In the valley it suits the homes where a plain aluminum cover would look too light against the stone and stucco, and a real wood one would be a maintenance contract.

Questions about Knotwood.

No. It is aluminum with a wood-grain finish applied by sublimation, so the grain is in the coating rather than printed on it. It looks and feels like timber and never needs sealing, which in this climate is the whole point.

Oaks, cedars, walnut and ash tones, plus solid powder-coat colors. We bring samples to the estimate.

The finish is a powder coat, warrantied by the manufacturer against fading and chalking. It does not need paint or stain, and it is the finish we recommend where a wood pergola would have to be restained every other year.

Yes. Most of the valley is under an association, and Summerlin, Henderson and the master-planned communities each have their own architectural process. We prepare the site plan, the color choice and the manufacturer's spec sheet, submit the packet, and answer the committee's questions. It is the one part of the schedule we do not control, so we start it first.
