How a louvered roof works.
The roof is a set of interlocking aluminum louvers on a motorized drive. Open them and the patio is a pergola with the desert sky above it, which is what you want on a February afternoon. Angle them and you get filtered shade that tracks the sun. Close them and the louvers seal into a solid roof, draining rain into a gutter built into the beam, which is what you want when a monsoon cell arrives at four o'clock.
The frame is extruded aluminum in a powder-coat finish, on the same kind of posts and footings as our solid covers. Lighting, fans and misters mount to the frame.
- Fully open, angled, or closed
- Sheds rain when closed
- Powder-coated aluminum frame
- Remote or wall switch

Questions about louvered roofs.
A motor turns the louvers from fully open to fully closed at the touch of a switch or remote. Open, you get the winter sun; angled, filtered shade that follows the afternoon; closed, a solid roof that sheds a downpour into the built-in gutter.
Because the valley has two seasons that want opposite things. From November to March the sun on the patio is the point; from June to September it is the problem. Louvers give you both from one structure, without a second cover or a shade sail.
Yes, a standard circuit for the motor. We run it during the build. Lighting, fans and misters can be added to the frame.
Yes. Most of the valley is under an association, and Summerlin, Henderson and the master-planned communities each have their own architectural process. We prepare the site plan, the color choice and the manufacturer's spec sheet, submit the packet, and answer the committee's questions. It is the one part of the schedule we do not control, so we start it first.
Labor and materials on the cover itself. If it stops working the way it should, we repair it at no charge. The details are on the warranty page.
